As we live in a small community and our province has been ravished by aids and aids related diseases my focus has quickly changed to how I can use my business to try and help with uplifting the local women in our area. Our current and future focus is to manufacture our own range of kiddies clothing, linen and baby products. We currently have Thandi and Samuel who are very passionate about our products and growing our business to help give work to fellow people in our community. Mary works part time making many of our knitted items. Our plans are to establish our brand both locally & internationally in order to provide a continuous income to these ladies so they can support their families and give them a platform to showcase their creative abilities. By giving back to the community we secure a future for all families involved in our dream.
Thandi worked for a large uniform manufacturing company for 28 years until she was retrenched 4 years ago. Her husband passed away 7 years ago after suffering a stroke. She has 3 sons and 1 grandson and battled doing the odd job to help her family survive. Since working with us she has a steady income to take home to her family and is so excited to see her creativity come to life.
Samuel is Zimbabwean and came to South Africa to find work to be able to send money home to feed his family. He is married to Belinda and they have 3 children.
He left Zimbabwe while Belinda was still pregnant with their 3rd child and 3 months ago she joined him here to introduce their gorgeous daughter Memory to all of us. Samuel makes all our wire and wood products. When he is not busy he helps my husband in his painting & renovating business and is so happy he is able to support his family. My children adore him and both Samuel & Belinda have become a close part of our family. |
